Milford Junior Major League is proud to host the 2017 - 10 year old District Tournament starting June 17th.

Each participating Town is requested to forward your Manager Contact information along with cell phone and e-mail to rwheway@optonline.net

It would also be appreciated if each team could e-mail a copy of their roster along with the phonetic pronunciations for each player to help the PA announcer.

Website / updates

All information regarding the 10 Year Old District Tournament can be found on the Milford JML website at http://www.jml.org/InfoTournaments/Ripken10District.aspx. The website will supersede any discrepancies with this document. The tournament brackets and pitching records will be updated nightly.

Location and Fields

All games will be at Francis and Benard Fields located behind the Milford Public Library. Both fields are enclosed with grass infield and lights.

Directions to the fields can be found on our website.

Bleachers are available at each field.

Parking for out of town visitors is available next to Benard Field. Avoid using the main parking lot as resident parking stickers are required and you may get ticketed.

A concession stand and restrooms are available at Francis Field.

There is no consumption of alcoholic beverages or smoking allowed at either field.

Medical / Safety

Francis Field is equipped with an A.E.D. and first aid kit. 

The fields are also equipped with an early warning lightning detection system.

Jimmy Fund

We will be collecting money for the Jimmy Fund throughout the tournament. Donation cans can be found at our concession stand and will also be passed through the crowd during games. If your League would like to make a group donation to the Jimmy Fund, you can bring a check and we will make sure it gets to the right place.

Game Specifics

Protest Committee

·         Each team must have one representative for the protest committee for each of their games. This person cannot be a member of the team coaching staff. Please present this person’s name to the official scorer 30 minutes prior to the start of the game with your official lineup.

Lineup Cards / Official Score Keeper 

·         Please provide your lineup card to the Official Score Keeper at least 30 minutes before game time and earlier if possible. Please list player first and last name, uniform number, position, and phonetic pronunciation of last name. All substitutions and pitching changes must also be reported to the Official Score Keeper. All games will have a PA announcer.

·         The home and visiting teams are responsible verifying and signing the pitching log for the game prior to leaving the field. The pitching log can be obtained from the official score keeper.

Home team / Dugouts

·         The team at the top of each bracket will be the home team for that game. The visiting team will have their choice of dugout.

 

Practice & Warmups

If time permits before each game, the following schedule will be used for warmups:

Notes:

 

* The batting cage is available for teams playing at Francis Field.

** If the field is not available 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time the Teams will split the remaining time less 10 minutes for "In Field practice". It is possible there won't be enough time available due to the completion time of the previous game and field grooming etc. Regardless, the teams must be in their dugouts and ready to play 10 minutes prior to game time.

 

Baseballs

·         Each team is to supply 1 dozen Cal Ripken baseballs.

Umpires

·         Umpires will be paid on the field by each participating team. Please bring $60 cash for each game.

Rules

·         Tournament Rules will be per the State of Connecticut Cal Ripken website and can be found HERE  in addition to the Babe Ruth Rule Book (tournament rules).

·         Any player, coach or fan who displays poor sportsmanship and behavior will be subject to removal from the complex. Refusal to leave the complex could result in arrest.
